Sourcing fruit and shrimp for Japan from Ecuador, Peru, India, Kenya and Colombia
For each origin on our Japan buyer map: the MAFF basis, Japan's recorded 2024 imports and what to confirm before contracting — then one reviewed RFQ for comparable exporter offers. Informational only: no supplier list, endorsement or ranking.
Prepared by the Global B2B Group project team · Published · Last reviewed · Scope: Ecuador, Peru, India, Kenya and Colombia as origins; Japan as destination. Sources opened on 25 October 2026. Product–origin access to Japan is set by MAFF; registrations and certificates change by season.

How do I source Japan-bound fruit and shrimp from these five origins?
Start from the MAFF basis for each product and origin: Peru has detailed rules for Hass avocados, Kent mangoes and grapes; India's mangoes enter only under a vapour-heat rule for six cultivars from six states; Colombia has rules for Hass avocados, Tommy Atkins mangoes and yellow pitaya; Ecuadorian bananas fall under the immature-banana exclusion; no Kenya–Japan fresh-produce route is established. Lists of sites registered for Japan found for this review are historical (SENASA 2020, APEDA 2018), so current season registration must be confirmed. Our team checks exporters, registrations and certificates privately for each reviewed request and returns comparable offers.
How to read this page
Access statements summarise MAFF's index of detailed plant-quarantine rules; trade values are Japan's 2024 imports as reported to UN Comtrade; national statistics are quoted with their own date and units. No exporter, packer, processor or treatment facility is named: our team checks supplier identities, season registrations and certificates privately for each reviewed request.
Peru: Hass avocados, mangoes, grapes and organic bananas
MAFF publishes detailed rules for Peruvian Hass avocados, Kent mangoes and grapes (Vitis vinifera); bananas fall under the immature-banana exclusion. Peruvian blueberries have no detailed rule — see the buyer map. SENASA's list of Hass avocado packing houses certified for Japan found for this review is for the 2020 season, so current registration must be confirmed with SENASA.
Ecuador: bananas and shrimp
Japan imported Ecuadorian bananas and frozen shrimp in 2024 (UN Comtrade). Which exporters already ship to Japan is checked with each exporter for your request.
India: shrimp and mangoes
Indian mangoes enter Japan only under MAFF's rule for six cultivars from six designated states with vapour heat treatment. The APEDA schedule of treatment facilities found for this review is from 2018; ask for the current approval before planning a season.
Colombia: Hass avocados, mangoes and pitaya
MAFF has detailed rules for Colombian Hass avocados, Tommy Atkins mangoes and yellow pitaya, but Japan reported no 2024 imports of Colombian avocados or mangoes. ICA's list of places of production registered for Japan could not be opened for this review; registration for the season is checked per request.
Kenya: avocados and horticulture
We found no MAFF detailed rule for Kenyan fruit and no 2024 Japanese imports of Kenyan avocados or vegetables, so no Kenya–Japan fresh-produce route is established.
Procurement comparison: the five origins for Japan
2024 values are Japan's imports from the origin (UN Comtrade, US$ thousand). Seasons appear only where a dated source states them.
- Ecuador: AEBE reports 174.79 million boxes of bananas exported in January–May 2025, up 5.89% on the same period of 2024 (25 June 2025).
- India: MPEDA reports that Japan took 40,776 tonnes of India's frozen shrimp exports in financial year 2025-26; APEDA reports mango exports of 31,819.46 tonnes worth US$53.99 million in FY 2025-26 (source DGCIS).
- Colombia: Analdex reports a 29.7% rise in Hass avocado export value in January–July 2025 (26 September 2025).

One request, several suppliers — your company stays confidential
A Japanese importer does not need to find and contact exporters one by one. The request path works like this:
- You send one structured request: product, variety, origin preferences (one or several of the five), volume per week and season, pack, arrival port and weeks, documents.
- A person on our team checks it against the MAFF basis for each origin and product, and against the USD 250,000 annual or seasonal programme minimum.
- Our team approaches several suitable exporters with the same questions, without your company name or contact details.
- You receive offers on one basis, each figure labelled as a supplier quote, an estimate or checked, with open points such as registration for the season.
- Your identity is shared only when you approve an introduction to a specific supplier. Buyers pay nothing.
How Global B2B Group uses this page
We do
- Our team uses the access basis and trade evidence here to scope your request and decide which origins and exporters to approach on your behalf
- We ask each exporter for current registration, treatment-facility approval, certificates and residue results before an option reaches you
- We approach several suppliers for the same request and return their offers on one basis, without revealing your company
We do not
- We do not publish exporter names, contact details, volumes, prices or stock, and we do not connect buyers directly with suppliers
- We do not rank exporters, and no supplier paid or was contacted for this page
- We do not certify organisations or confirm that a route or consignment is admissible to Japan
What to ask every exporter before a Japan programme
- The MAFF rule or exclusion your product and origin rely on, and the exact variety
- Registration of the orchard, packing house and treatment facility for the coming season (SENASA, ICA, NPPO India)
- Certificate numbers, scope and expiry for every scheme claimed — checked in the scheme's own database
- Residue results against Japan's limits under the positive list system
- Shrimp: processing plant, product form, count or size grade, glazing and net weight
- Weekly volume, shipping weeks, Incoterms® rule and named place, and offer validity
Our team turns these points into one reviewed request and approaches suitable suppliers on your behalf. Buyers pay nothing; sourcing programmes start from USD 250,000 per year or season, and every requirement is confirmed per shipment rather than assumed.
Frequently asked questions
How is an exporter's Japan registration checked?
The lists of sites registered for Japan found for this review are historical — SENASA's Peruvian Hass avocado list is for the 2020 season and APEDA's mango schedule is from 2018. For each request our team asks the exporter for the current registration of orchard, packing house and treatment facility, and confirms it with the exporting country's authority for the season.
Official guidance: MAFF Plant Protection Station — index of detailed plant-quarantine rules
Why are no exporters or contact details listed?
Global B2B Group is a buyer-side sourcing service, not a supplier directory. Our team checks exporters privately and approaches them on your behalf with the same questions, so your company stays confidential until you approve an introduction.
How are exporter certificates checked?
Before an offer reaches you, our team asks each exporter for the certificate number, scope and expiry for every scheme claimed and checks them in the scheme's own database.
Can I source Kenyan avocados for Japan?
We found no MAFF detailed rule for Kenyan avocados and no 2024 Japanese imports, so this route is not established. Ask the Plant Protection Station before planning.
Is there a minimum programme size?
Assisted sourcing applies to programmes from USD 250,000 in total annual or seasonal value. It is free for buyers.
