Poultry and Egg Sourcing: Connecting Producers, Buyers and Production Capabilities

The outcome comes first. Procurement follows.

Plan the production or project → define the output and market → structure a reviewed RFQ → our team approaches suitable counterparties → compare offers. Equipment and production-line procurement remains a separate path: plan an equipment RFQ.

Three different products: table eggs, hatching eggs and poultry meat

Buyers often send one request for 'poultry and eggs'. Suppliers then cannot quote, because the trades barely overlap. Table eggs are a food product sold by grade, size and pack. Hatching eggs are a production input bought by hatcheries, where flock health and breed matter more than appearance. Poultry meat is a slaughtered and processed product sold whole or as cuts, chilled or frozen. Decide which one you are buying before anything else.

Global B2B Group works on the buyer side. Our team reviews your request, approaches producers, egg packers and processors that appear to fit, and returns comparable offers. We do not own flocks or plants, do not take producer responsibility and do not guarantee availability, health status or price.

Table eggs: grade, size, pack and cadence

For table eggs, the specification a packer can price is grade, size or weight class, shell colour, production system if your customers specify it, and pack format. Eggs are perishable, so delivery cadence matters: state how many eggs or cases you need per week and how fresh they must be on arrival.

  • Grade or class under the standard your market uses
  • Size or weight class (for example M, L, XL with gram ranges)
  • Shell colour and production system, if specified by your customers
  • Pack: 30-egg trays, retail packs of 6, 10 or 12, cases per pallet
  • Weekly volume, delivery frequency and maximum age at arrival

Hatching eggs: only characteristics a supplier can evidence

Hatching eggs are bought for the chicks they produce, so the important facts sit with the breeder flock: breed or strain, flock age, vaccination and health monitoring status, and the hatchery's handling and storage. Ask the supplier which of these it can document. We present only characteristics the supplier evidences; anything else is recorded as unknown rather than implied.

Movements of hatching eggs are closely controlled by veterinary authorities. Disease status in the exporting country or zone — reported through systems such as WOAH's WAHIS — can open or close a trade route quickly, so confirm current conditions before you plan a programme.

Poultry meat: whole birds or cuts, chilled or frozen

For poultry meat, state whether you need whole birds or specific cuts, the weight range per bird or piece, chilled or frozen form, and the packing. If your destination or customers require halal or another religious or quality certification, include it as a requirement; leave it out if it is not needed rather than adding it by default.

  • Whole birds (weight band) or cuts (breast, leg quarters, wings and so on) with weight ranges
  • Chilled or frozen; IQF or block; shelf life required
  • Packing: bags, trays or bulk cartons; net weight per case; labelling
  • Certification required by the destination or customers — with the issuing body you accept

Destination requirements and export documents

Poultry products and eggs usually need a veterinary health certificate issued by the exporting country's competent authority, and the exporting establishment often has to be approved for the destination. Import conditions depend on the product, the animal-health status of the origin and the destination's own rules — for example, the U.S. FSIS publishes import and export requirements for meat, poultry and egg products. Confirm the current conditions for your exact product and route.

When hatchery, farm or processing capacity becomes relevant

Some buyers discover that the supply they need does not exist at the specification or scale required, or they want more control over it. At that point the question shifts from buying product to building or contracting capacity: hatcheries, broiler or layer houses, feed supply, egg grading and packing, or slaughter and processing lines. These are separate procurement projects. HatchMatch covers hatchery and poultry-production planning, FeedMatch covers feed and feed mills, and egg grading, packing and processing equipment can be scoped through our equipment RFQ. You do not need any of these to send a sourcing request.

How to submit a poultry or egg sourcing request

Open our sourcing request and choose table eggs, hatching eggs or poultry meat — each shows only the relevant fields. Add volumes, delivery window, origin preference, destination, Incoterms® terms and documents, and declare the total programme value. Managed sourcing applies from USD 250,000 per year or season; smaller requests are kept on file without supplier outreach.

Every request is read by our team before any producer is approached, and introductions happen only with your approval. Producers that want to offer eggs or poultry register separately and are reviewed; they do not see buyer requests or contact details directly.

This guide is free to use. If you have a programme of USD 250,000 or more per year or season, you can send a request for review. A request is not a guarantee of supply, quality, price or a sale.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request table eggs and hatching eggs together?
Send them as separate requests. They have different specifications, buyers and health rules, and different suppliers usually serve them.
Do you guarantee flock health or egg quality?
No. We ask suppliers for evidence such as health status and grading, and present only what they can document. Final due diligence, inspection and contract terms remain with the buyer.
Is halal certification included automatically?
No. Add halal or another certification only if your destination or customers require it, and name the certifying body you accept.
What is the minimum request size?
Managed sourcing applies to programmes of at least USD 250,000 total value per year or season. Smaller requests are stored and reviewed but do not enter supplier outreach. Requests are free for buyers.
Where do I plan a hatchery, layer farm or egg packing line?
Hatchery and poultry-production projects are handled by HatchMatch, feed mills by FeedMatch, and egg grading, packing or processing equipment through our equipment RFQ builder.
