Factory utility calculator: requirements to industrial RFQ
Short answer: utility demand scales with output and process type. A 2 t/h food line with heating produces a modelled range of 180–288 kW of electrical load and 1.8–2.88 t/h of steam under this tool's assumptions. Pick your process and capacity for an indicative range.
| Connected electrical load | 180 – 288 kW |
| Transformer size (incl. 25% margin, pf 0.85) | 265 – 424 kVA |
| Electricity per operating day (70% load factor) | 2 – 3.2 MWh/day |
| Steam | 1,800 – 2,880 kg/h |
| Process & cleaning water | 8 – 12.8 m³/h |
| Compressed air | 1.6 – 2.6 Nm³/min |
| Cooling / refrigeration | 120 – 192 kW |
Preliminary planning ranges from generic process intensities, not an engineering design. Real demand depends on the recipe, equipment selection, heat recovery and local climate. Suppliers must confirm utilities in their quotation.
How the estimate is calculated
Each process type has a planning intensity per tonne/hour of output for power, steam, water, compressed air and cooling. The low figure is the intensity × capacity; the high figure applies this model's fixed 1.6 multiplier. This range is not a measured equipment-efficiency comparison. Transformer size = kW ÷ 0.85 power factor × 1.25 margin.
Next steps: plan the full line in the production planner, or estimate cost with the CAPEX calculator.
From a planning result to a reviewable project
Use these modelled utility ranges to identify package interfaces before comparing quotations, not to size a final installation.
1. Define scope
Record capacity, site and package interfaces.
2. Confirm evidence
Request connected and operating loads, peak demand, utility quality, connection conditions and test evidence from each supplier.
3. Human review
Buyer service is free for B2B projects from USD 250,000. No automatic supplier outreach.
What does this result not establish?
Process intensities, power factor and margins are internal planning assumptions. Confirm the installation with qualified engineers and the relevant equipment suppliers. Calculator assumptions are not quotations, engineering approval or financing commitments.
Send your utility figures with your project
Share the location, application, target capacity and budget band. A member of the team reviews every submission personally — no automatic supplier outreach.
