Product specification builder for agricultural products

Describe exactly what you want to buy, so every supplier quotes against the same requirements.

Choose a product category and answer only the questions that apply to it. The builder turns your answers into a readable specification you can edit, print, compare quotes against in the landed-cost estimator, and — when you choose — carry into our reviewed sourcing request form.

  • Free
  • No sign-in
  • Draft kept on this device only

Fields marked Required are needed for a usable specification. Everything else is an optional preference — leave it blank if you have no requirement.

1. Product category

Fruit and vegetables: crop and variety, grade and calibre, maturity and quality parameters, seasonal availability, pack format, origin, delivery window and destination.

2. Product specification

Use the grading terms you buy against.

What makes a lot acceptable to you on arrival.

When you need supply, so suppliers can say whether their season fits.

3. Quantity and frequency

Per shipment, or for the whole programme — say which under frequency.

4. Origin and delivery

Leave blank if you are open to any origin.

5. Terms, requirements and preferences

Decides which costs a quote should include.

List only what you, your customers or your destination market require. We do not assume any certification applies.

Check the documents your destination requires with your customs broker or authority.

Optional guidance for suppliers.

Optional, in your own words.

A target price or budget only guides suppliers. It is not the declared programme value used to qualify a sourcing request.

You set the requirements. Certifications, documents and import rules differ by destination market, product and buyer — check what applies with your authorities, customs broker or certifier before you rely on a specification.

How it works

  1. Pick the product category; only the questions relevant to it are shown.
  2. Fill in the required fields and any preferences that matter to you. Your draft stays in this browser.
  3. Review and edit the summary, then print it, copy it, or compare supplier quotes in the landed-cost estimator.
  4. When you are ready, carry it into the sourcing request form. Our team reviews the request before any supplier outreach; your contact details are not shared without your approval.

Why a written specification matters

  • Quotes are only comparable when every supplier prices the same product: the same grade, size, form, packing, terms and delivery window.
  • A clear specification reduces back-and-forth, makes rejected or out-of-spec lots easier to discuss, and shows which differences between quotes are real.
  • Keep required fields to what you truly need. Every extra requirement can narrow the suppliers able to quote.

What each category asks

Fruit & vegetables
Fruit and vegetables: crop and variety, grade and calibre, maturity and quality parameters, seasonal availability, pack format, origin, delivery window and destination.
Fish & seafood
Fish and seafood: species and form, farmed or wild-caught where relevant, size or grade, processing and packaging, temperature and storage, origin, volume and the certifications you request.
Poultry & eggs
Poultry and eggs: product type, cut and weight or egg class and size, packaging, quantity, origin, required handling, certifications you request and the delivery schedule.

You set the requirements. Certifications, documents and import rules differ by destination market, product and buyer — check what applies with your authorities, customs broker or certifier before you rely on a specification.

Before you submit a request

Buyer requests are free. Our assisted sourcing applies to programmes with a total annual or seasonal value of at least USD 250,000 — not per shipment. Smaller requests are kept on file. We review every request and contact suppliers on your behalf; we do not guarantee that a product, volume or supplier is available.

Questions buyers ask

Do I need an account to use the builder?

No. The builder works without signing in, and your draft is kept only in this browser until you clear it.

Is anything sent when I fill in the builder?

No. Nothing leaves your browser until you open the request form, check it, add your programme value and contact details, and submit it yourself.

Which certifications or documents should I require?

That depends on your destination market, product and customers. The builder does not assume any requirement; list what applies to you and confirm it with your authorities, customs broker or certifier.

What is the difference between required fields and preferences?

Required fields describe the product, quantity, destination and timing — without them suppliers cannot quote. Preferences such as origin, certifications or a target price are optional and can narrow the suppliers able to quote.

How do I compare the quotes I receive?

Send the specification to the landed-cost estimator. It carries your product, quantity, unit, destination and terms; you then enter each supplier's price and costs to compare the delivered cost per usable unit.

Does a specification guarantee supply or a supplier introduction?

No. It makes your request clear and comparable. Our team reviews each request, approaches suppliers on your behalf and introduces options only with your approval.
