Cold store sizing & CAPEX
Size a cold storage facility and get an installed CAPEX band, refrigeration duty and annual energy cost before approaching refrigeration OEMs and EPCs.
Baseline installed cost per pallet position before automation and region.
Civil works, labour and logistics move installed cost more than the machinery itself.
A 8,000-pallet frozen (−18 to −25 °c) store is a $2.38M – $3.22M installed project with about $523,600 of electricity per year.

Method and assumptions
- Cost per pallet position is a blended installed rate covering envelope, refrigeration plant, racking, doors and controls.
- Refrigeration duty uses 0.055 kW per chilled pallet and 0.085 kW per frozen pallet at design ambient, with 5,500 equivalent full-load hours per year.
- Land, permits, external civil works and buyer's engineering are excluded.
