Pair of quality metrics expressing the proportion of input material converted into acceptable finished product versus the proportion lost as scrap, rework or waste.
Yield is typically expressed as good output divided by total input, while scrap rate is the complementary loss figure, often broken down by cause such as machine setup, raw material variability or operator error. Both metrics are tracked at process step and whole-line level to identify where material value is being lost.
