Industrial poultry is the world's most efficient conversion of feed to animal protein and, for that reason, the fastest-growing commercial protein sector in most emerging markets. Procurement decisions typically cover four asset classes: hatcheries (setters, hatchers, egg handling), broiler and layer houses (climate control, feeding, drinking, egg collection), processing plants (stunning, scalding, evisceration, chilling, cutting, packing) and cold-chain and rendering. 1. Bird type and lifecycle boundary
Broilers, layers, breeders, turkeys and ducks each drive different house geometry, equipment and processing lines. Decide whether the project covers hatchery + grow-out + processing, or only one segment.
2. Throughput target
Fix birds/hour for processing, chicks/week for hatchery, and heads/cycle for houses. These three numbers drive every downstream sizing decision.
3. Biosecurity and welfare regime
Density limits, ventilation rates, litter management, mortality handling and biosecurity zoning are increasingly regulated and audited. Encode the standard you target (EU, US, Halal, Global G.A.P., HACCP) into the RFQ.
4. Utility envelope
Poultry plants are energy- and water-intensive. Confirm gas, electricity, chilled water and effluent capacity before RFQ. Cold-chain adjacency and packaging interfaces determine whether a "processing plant" bid is complete or is missing 15% of the CAPEX.

Poultry RFQs typically bundle into two packages: (a) live-side (houses + hatchery), and (b) processing + cold-chain. Some sponsors split further to bring in specialist processing-line integrators. Keep bid periods to six to eight weeks and enforce a single site-visit window so bids are grounded in real conditions.
